What is the SHSM?
The Specialist High Skills Major (SHSM) is a ministry initiative that enables students to become an industry specific specialist in various areas. The Enviroventure SHSM is under the Environment sector that includes several benefits to the traditional high school diploma. This includes specialized courses, training and experiences as part of what we are doing in the program. By taking the Enviroventure program, the majority to the SHSM requirements will be met during the Enviroventure semester, including:
***All SHSM students will also receive a transcript indicating completion of the above as well as the other requirements of the program. In order for students to receive the special Red Seal designation on their Secondary School Diploma, students must also complete a 2-credit co-op (related to the courses in Enviro package). Summer co-op opportunities are available. Students are encouraged to speak to Mr. Hooper in the Co-op Department for further details. The inability to fit the co-op into one's academic schedule should NOT deter any student from applying to the program.

- Leadership training
- Leave No Trace training
- Water and Ice Safety
- Species identification
