They say time flies, but it really does crawl by at other times. I’m right there with you. So as we get closer to the start of Enviro, I thought I would offer some advice (some my own, some from others) to get us going and ready for the Day 1 that is taking a seemingly long time to arrive. Here goes: 1) Finish strong- get those last exams done by staying focused and studying hard. Once they are done, then the excitement can really begin. 2) Ski Trippers?- Be safe, have fun, get some rest, and don’t do anything silly to risk what lies ahead. And as I said, get back for the first day:). And finally, 3) Get ready! What does that mean? Well, a few things actually. Get organized with what you need to bring, checking the calendar, and figuring out your schedule for the weeks to come. Get outside. And get some exercise! You’ll need it. But, the major advice I can give, is don’t wish the time away. Before we know it, a month is going to fly by and things will go faster than you would like them to. So, as you plug away getting ready this week, take your time, decompress, and don’t get ahead of yourself. Trust me.

After watching the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour last night, it once again delivered on the promise of an amazing collection of award-winning films. From the dazzling display of lights in “Darklight”, the heartfelt “Denali” or “The Important Places”, to probably my personal favourite in “Unbranded.” I don’t know about anybody else, but given that there is only one month (to the day!) left until Day 1 of Enviro, I am incredibly pumped, re-energized, inspired, or fill in the adjective, to get things going. So fun to look out to the crowd of faces of past, present and future Enviro students. I might speak on behalf of all of us who went last night in I could probably use a bit more sleep, but I think it is safe to say it was worth it. Maybe it is not sleep we all might need more of today. Maybe it was the right prescription for us all to get some “NatureRx.”:) So fun.
